Jeremy Morrison Named to NCCSIA 
All-State Baseball Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Jeremy Morrison, a junior member of the Greensboro College baseball team, was named to the the 2004 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Baseball Team. 

Morrison, an outfielder from of Conestoga, PA, Morrison batted .400 and posted a USA South Conference record 26-game hitting streak. He led The Pride with 39 runs scored and stole 19 of 25 bases. GC finished the year 21-19. He was a first team All USA South and a CoSIDA regional academic first team pick.

Fourteen student-athletes form the 2004 NCCSIA College Division All-State Baseball Team. The team consists of NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities. Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals. NCCSIA members voted for the all-state teams.

The All-State baseball teams include two starting pitchers, one relief pitcher, one catcher, four infielders, three outfielders and one designated hitter. In the event of ties, all players included are honored on the all-state team.

The inaugural NCCSIA baseball all-state team is headed by three members of the South Atlantic Conference champion Catawba College squad. Mount Olive, Wingate, Pfeiffer and Guilford placed two players each on the unit.

A trio of Catawba Indians were named to the NCCSIA All-State squad, headed by South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Year Thomas Wilson. Infielder Matt Baker, the SAC Co-Player of the Year, and outfielder Spence Southard, the SAC Tournament MVP, also represented the Indians, who posted a record of 42-17 and advanced to the NCAA Division II Regional for the first time.

Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information. NCSSIA selects all-state teams for men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball on both the College and University (Division I) levels.
