GC at USA South Tournament, Danville, Va. 
CNU 13, GC 1 

Danville, Va. -- Christopher Newport erupted for all 13 runs in the second inning to defeat Greensboro College, 13-1, in a USA South first round game at Dan Daniel Park on Wednesday. 

The Pride did manage 9 hits in the game, but only pushed one runner to home plate. Kevin Mong went 2-4 and scored GC's run. Zach Tacelli was 2-3 with a double. Chad Alligood was 2-4 with a double. 

USA South Pitcher-of-the-Year AnDrew Keever (6-3) took the loss for The Pride. He completed 1 2/3 innings and allowed 9 runs (5 earned). The Captains sent 17 batters the plate in the second inning. 

CNU hitting leaders: Lewellen 3-4, 2 runs and 3 RBI; Basanes 3-3 with 1 run and 2 RBI. 

The Pride faces Chowan at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday.
