DANVILLE, Va. – Greensboro College scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 5-3 win and eliminate Shenandoah University from the USA South Conference Tournament Saturday.

Trailing 3-2 after the top of the sixth inning, Jeremy Morrison belted a two-RBI single to right-center field to score Chad Alligood and Jeff Gregory. Later in the inning, Kevin Mong drew a bases loaded walk for the third and final run of the inning.

Greensboro held an early lead after one run in both the first and third innings, before Shenandoah put together a combined three runs over the fifth and sixth. David Jenkins scored from second after a Kuchemba single and an error in the outfield to trim the lead to 2-1. The Hornets also added two runs in the sixth on RBIs from Daniel Ziccardy and Scott Disch for a 3-2 advantage. However, the Shenandoah lead was short-lived, as the Pride took the lead for good in the next frame.

Leading the way for the Hornets was Adam Duckett's 3-for-5 effort. Adam Kuchemba, Ziccardy, and Disch all added two hits in the loss. Nick Sborz suffered the loss in relief of Jason Burgess.

Josh Maras was the game's winning pitcher in only 2/3 innings of work in relief of starter Chatham Bray. The two teams combined for only four strikeouts on the day.

Leading the way offensively for the Pride was Morrison and Brent Justice with two hits each.

The loss eliminates the Hornets, while Greensboro advances to play the 7:45 p.m. game against N.C. Wesleyan game.
