MONG LEADS PRIDE TO FINAL DAY
AT USAS BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

DANVILLE, Va. – Kevin Mong
pitched a complete game and led Greensboro College to a win over NC Wesleyan,
5-4, in a USA South Tournament game on Saturday night. Mong hurled nine
innings, allowed five hits, struck out five Bishops while allowing one
walk.
The Pride led 4-0 and 5-1 but had
to hold off a late Bishop rally. GC advances to a Sunday 1 p.m. elimination
game vs. Methodist. Greensboro has advanced this far in the conference
tournament just once, 1998, when The Pride captured its only championship.
The Pride pounded out 11 hits in
the game. Jeremy Morrison had a strong outing for Greensboro. He
went 2-3 with 3 runs scored. Others notching multiple hit games for GC
were: Brent Justice (2-3, 2 doubles, 2 RBI); Chad Alligood
(2-4, RBI) and Jeff Gregory (2-4, double, one run).
