Under the direction of new Head Coach Dave McCain, the Greensboro College women's tennis had a noteworthy year.
The Pride was 7-10 and 3-4 in conference matches. The green and white avenged an earlier loss to Peace College by beating them in the first round of the conference tournament.
Carrie Pacifico had a breakthrough year to lead the GC women. The sophomore was ranked regionally, and posted a remarkable 20-2 record (a new mark for winning percentage) at number one singles. Following the regular season, Pacifico became the first ever GC women’s tennis player to be named conference Player of the Year.
“Carrie worked hard and is dedicated to becoming a better player,” McCain said. It’s a joy to work with someone who puts in the time, effort and dedication to be the best she can be. ”
In the Fall season, Greensboro College took the top championships in the singles and doubles “A” Draw at the six-team Meredith College Invitational. Pacifico won the singles flight and teamed with Elise Broverman to capture the doubles title.
At the season-ending GC athletics convocation, Pacifico earned team most valuable player honors. The coaches' award was presented to Caroline Rose and Susan Harris earned the most improved honor.
