Carrie Pacifico Led 2007 Greensboro College Women's Tennis Team

For the second straight year, Greensboro College's Carrie Pacifico was named the USA South women’s tennis player of the year. Playing at the number one flight, Pacifico compiled an 18-3 overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark in USA South regular season action.

The junior's outstanding play highlighted an impressive year for The Pride women. Pacifico won the Meredith College Invitational the past two years and reached the round of 16 at the ITA Regional Tournament last fall.

Helped by a key win from freshman Michelle Lemmons, GC defeated Peace College, 5-4, in the quarterfinals of the conference championships. Lemmons was 5-2 in USAS play and joined Pacifico on the all conference team. The duo helped The Pride to a 6-9 overall record and a mark of 4-3 in the USA South.

Pacifico, a business administration and economics major with a grade point average of 3.7, won the prestigious Craven E. Williams Award at the year-end GC athletics convocation. The Williams honors is the highest achievement at Greensboro College that combines academics, athletics and community service.

“Carrie has worked extremely hard to become one of the top players in the region, and she works equally hard to be an exceptional student,” said GC head coach Dave McCain. “She loves a challenge and loves to compete. Her play, the improvement of Michelle Lemmons, and our other returnees should make next year even better!”
