Internships help students define interests, sharpen skills, evaluate plans for employment or graduate studies and connect with people who may provide leads for full-time employment. Frequently, internships pave the way for full-time jobs after graduation.
Eligibility
- Junior or senior status and satisfactory GPA and completion of departmental prerequisites
- Approval of Faculty Advisor and Academic Dean
Academic Credit
- Each semester hour credit requires 45 clock hours of work.
- Typically, students receive 3 semester hours of credit requiring an average of 9 clock hours per week, a total of 135 clock hours for the semester
Evaluation
- Students are evaluated on their job performance by their Site Supervisor and academically by their Faculty Supervisor (academic projects, journals, and papers may be required)
- Students evaluate their particular experience and the effectiveness of the internship program
