International Students

Greensboro College encourages international students to participate in the numerous learning and social opportunities available.  International students may play on intercollegiate athletic teams, join student organizations, participate in some forms of work-study, complete an internship and participate in numerous travel opportunities.  While the Associate Dean of Students works directly with International Students, numerous faculty and staff members serve as mentors and advisors.

A number or programming opportunities are available for International Students throughout the academic year. Students are encouraged to participate in the annual International Festival held at the Royce Reynolds Family Student Life Center every February. International Students are also invited to participate in a student panel discussing Study Abroad experiences each spring. In addition to these two campus-wide events, students are encouraged to participate in lunches, dinners and other special activities programmed specifically for the International student population throughout each semester.

There are many students with international backgrounds studying at Greensboro College, both as traditional students and as participants in the Master's level programs being offered. Currently, our traditional international student population represents the following countries: Antigua, Armenia, Burkina Faso, Canada, France, Gabon, Great Britain, South Korea, Sudan, Suriname, and Trinidad.

International Students studying at Greensboro College must meet certain criteria in order to remain enrolled.

  • Full-time enrollment during each academic semester, excluding Summer Terms I and II.
  • Good financial standing (i.e. the terms of the "Financial Affidavit of Support" must be upheld throughout the length of study at Greensboro College).
  • Students must remain "in status", as set forth by rules and regulations of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigrations Services (BCIS), throughout the duration of their studies at Greensboro College.  Students falling "out of status" will have one semester to return to F-1 Status.

The College reserves the right to end its educational partnership with any international student failing to meet these requirements. Any questions regarding International Students or BCIS policy and procedure should be directed to the Assistant Dean for Student Life & Retention.
