Mentoring Programs
Pride Leaders

Pride Leaders are upper class students chosen each fall to support the First-Year Center in all activities designed for new students. Pride Leaders serve as role models for all students in academic and cocurricular areas. Specifically, Pride Leaders spend the Spring Semester each year participating in a leadership training series and planning for Campus Connection and Précis.

Student Athlete Mentoring Program

Student Athlete Mentors (SAMs) provide unique, personal support to new freshmen athletes during their first-year of college. SAMs serve as guides and role models in the areas of athletic and academic achievement, cocurricular involvement and leadership in order to assist students in the transition to Greensboro College life. SAMs are chosen by their coaches based on athletic, academic and leadership skills.

Peer Mentors

Peer Mentors are student leaders who co-teach a section of the First-Year Seminar with a faculty member. Peer Mentors serve as a link between the seminar instructor and the students in the class and are an integral part of the new student initiatives at Greensboro College.

The PEAK

The PEAK is located on the third floor of Main Building. Located within the PEAK is the Center for Academic Services. The Center offers academic resources: tutoring; learning disabilities support; academic advising and study skills workshops to all students. First-year students are encouraged to take advantage of all these services early in the semester to develop and maintain good academic habits and strong study skills. Five-week progress reports and satisfactory/unsatisfactory progress reports at mid-term are sent from the PEAK Office.
