Religious Life
The Religious Life office is dedicated to serving the Greensboro College community's faith and spiritual needs. Overseen by campus minister Robert W. Brewer, religious life at Greensboro College is active on many levels and in many forms including the following: Interpersonal Contacts

The campus minister 's office is located in the Royce Reynolds Student Life Center. Students and staff are encouraged to stop by and visit, as well as make appointments for counseling and spiritual direction. The Campus Minister receives prayer requests and informs the community of issues and concerns.

Community Worship

Chapel Worship - Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. in Finch Chapel. The services offer a blend of contemporary and traditional music and are lead by students, faculty or staff members, or guest from the community. All members of the College community are welcome as are visitors to the campus.

  • Taize Worship - Mondays at 11:30 a.m. in Finch Chapel. Quiet contemplative worship organized by students.

Student Organizations

The clubs currently active on campus are the following:

  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes
  • Student Christian Fellowship - Wednesdays 8:00 p.m.
  • Campus Crusade For Christ - Thursdays 8:00 p.m.
  • Soul Survivors - Mondays, 12:00 p.m.
Through the cooperative efforts of Greensboro College, UNCG, and Guilford College, the following organizations are accessible:
  • Hillel Jewish Organization
  • Catholic Student Fellowship
Youth Outreach

Greensboro College students share in the responsibility and joy of reaching out to their younger peers. This is organized through three summer programs:

  • The North Carolina United Methodist All-State Youth Choir for high school students in June
  • The Leading Edge; A Summer Leadership Academy for high school students in June
  • The Big Event; A Youth Rally for middle and high school students in September
Professional and Volunteer Off Campus Connections

The Religious Life Office plays a central role in nurturing the College's connection with both the community and the United Methodist Church. This is reflected in special events on campus and off-campus activities.

  1. The Festival of Lessons and Carols
  2. sponsoring lecturers in Finch Chapel
  3. arranging internships for students interested in church related organizations
  4. coordinating volunteer services in conjunction with Village 401

Greensboro College holds a traditional commitment to reaching out to those in need. Students may volunteer through the Village 401 office. This office is overseen by the campus minister and coordinated by an Americorp Vista.

Some of the opportunities currently listed in the Village 401 office, which is located in The Royce Reynolds Student Family Life Center includes:

  1. be an elementary lunch buddy
  2. provide marketing assistance to a fine arts center
  3. tutor a differently abled child or adult
  4. maintain landscaping in a public park
  5. provide play therapy for children
  6. be a friend to a refugee
  7. offer counseling on a hotline
  8. read to an older adult
  9. participate in Big Brother/Big Sister
  10. keep accounts for a non-profit agency

One way to participate in a service program without making a long term commitment is to join in one of the annual community service events. These include the following:

  • Alternative Spring Break
  • Stream Clean
  • Martin Luther King Day
