The Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) Program is focused on the preparation of physical educators. The program provides experiences that enable students to acquire the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to conduct a developmentally and instructionally appropriate physical education program. Graduates of the program have a sincere interest in quality teaching and are personally committed to being physically educated and helping others to become so.
The PETE Program is founded on the guidelines of the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) and is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI).
