INSTITUTIONAL NEED BASED AID
GC Need Based Grant
These grants are based on demstrated need from filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and on the amount of other institutional aid that has been awarded. The amount will be determined each year according to the results of that years FAFSA.
Endowed Scholarships
Endowed scholarships are funded through the generosity of friends of the college. The college uses these scholarships to fund the GC Need Based Grant.
Greensboro College Loan
This is a limited institutional loan program providing additional loan funds above the
federal loan programs. The availability of funds varies each year. The interest rate is six percent, and repayment begins six months after graduation or withdrawal, or if a student drops below half-time status.
STATE NEED BASED AID
North Carolina State Contractual Scholarship Fund (NCSC)
The state program was designed to assist needy North Carolina residents attending private colleges and universities in the State. Students must be residents, be enrolled full time, not be enrolled in a program of study designed primarily for career preparation in a religious vocation, and demonstrate financial need from filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
FEDERAL NEED BASED AID
Federal Pell Grant
This federally funded program provides grants to undergraduate students who demonstrate eligibility according to a standardized formula created by Congress. The information is gathered from the filing of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The amount of the grant for 2006-07 ranges from $400 to $4050 depending on the student’s demonstrated eligibility and the level of enrollment.
Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
This limited federal grant program provides funding to the institution for the
awarding of its most needy students. First priority must be given to Pell Grant
recipients. The student must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered. The amount of the grant for 2006-07 ranges from $100 to $2,000 depending on the student’s demonstrated eligibility and the availability of funding.
Federal College Work Study (CWSP)
This federally funded program provides work opportunities to students who
demonstrate eligibility from the filing of the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA). Students are paid each month according to the hours worked. Payrates start at minimum wage.

Federal Perkins Loan
This federally funded loan program provides low interest loans to assist students in
meeting their cost of education. Eligibility is determined from filing the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Priority must be given to the
institution’s most needy students as directed by the federal guidelines. The amount of the award varies depending on the availability of funding. The maximum loan
amount is $3,000 per year.
