Dear Prospective RA Candidate:
   We are excited that you have expressed interest in being a part of the Residence Life Team for the 2005-2006 academic year. In your enclosed packet you will find a Resident Assistant job description, an application, three recommendation forms and an outline of important dates in the process. Please put some time, thought, and effort into your application.

   Your completed application should be returned to the Student Development office (Main 214) no later than February 2nd along with a resume. If you need help with your resume we strongly urge you to schedule an appointment with Career Services. The Career Services office will be more than happy to assist you in designing or developing your resume. The recommendation forms should be given to your current RA and two faculty or staff members of your choosing.

RA Job Description:

Resident Assistant Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

" Serving as a peer advisor, helper and counselor.
" Enforcing college and residence hall policies and documenting campus violations
" Modeling appropriate community-living behaviors
" Planning and/or coordinating a prescribed number of social, educational and recreational programs for hall residents.
" Maintaining on-duty hours and fulfilling specified on-duty responsibilities within the residence halls
" Assisting with administrative duties in the residence halls
" Performing other relevant duties as specified

Resident Assistant Requirements

" A Resident Assistant must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25
" A Resident Assistant must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum of 12 hours)
" A student must have lived in the residence halls at least one semester prior to becoming a Resident Assistant
" All RA requests for outside employment must be approved by an RA's RHD.

Remuneration

" A private room fee waiver.
" A cash stipend of $750 a semester.
" _ off the total cost of a room will be paid by Greensboro College.
" A free parking permit.
" Intensive training and lots of fun

Mandatory Group Process and  interviews with RAs and RHDs.
8 a.m.-4 p.m. Location TBA.

Feb. 9-Feb. 20:
2nd interviews by appointment with RLC and Assistant Dean.
