Greensboro College is a Methodist Church-related liberal arts institution that has been located in the center of Greensboro, North Carolina for more than 160 years. The College offers 30 majors to an undergraduate student body of approximately 1,300. Full-Time Faculty and Other Academic Positions
Kinesiology
The Division of Kinesiology at Greensboro College invites applications for a new faculty position to begin in August 2008. This will be a tenure-eligible or continuing contract-eligible position at the rank of assistant or associate professor. Preferred qualifications of the successful candidate will include an earned doctorate in Kinesiology (health and physical education pedagogy emphasis) and an ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses (exercise science or related discipline). The successful candidate will also hold one or more professional certifications or licensures in (1) physical education, (2) health education, or (3) exercise science (ACSM, NSCA, etc.). Successful collegiate and/or public school teaching experience will also be important. ABD candidates will be considered.
The Division of Kinesiology offers undergraduate majors in physical education (licensure), exercise and sport studies (with concentrations in exercise science, sport administration, sport behavior, sport coaching) as well as athletic training (CAATE). Education
The Teacher Education Division of the College announces the following full-time faculty position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Elementary Education.
This will be a full-time tenure-eligible or continuing contract-eligible position.
Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate pedagogy courses in K - 6 mathematics, social studies, and curriculum planning and instructional strategies
- Supervise student teachers and other field experiences
- Participate in academic advisement
Qualifications:
- Preferred: Earned Doctorate (or ABD) in education or a related field
- Master’s or Specialist degree considered.
- Teacher Licensure in Elementary (K - 6)
- Recent elementary classroom/administrative experience
- Experience working with beginning teachers
- Strong background in the use and integration of technology
Salary

Instructor of English
Greensboro College is seeking a full-time instructor of English for the 2008-2009 academic year. This is a one-year, non-renewable appointment to begin August 2008. The instructor will teach in the first-year English program—three courses in the fall, three in the spring—and serve on departmental committees. An M.A. and appropriate experience are required, Ph.D. preferred.

Staff and other Administrative Positions
Director of Student Activities & Orientation
Greensboro College invites applications for the position of Director of Student Activities & Orientation, who provides leadership and oversight for a comprehensive program of student involvement. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students, the Director is responsible for the administration and operation of all aspects of the orientation program and student involvement.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Oversee 30+ student organizations, including confirmation that accreditation requirements have been met, organizations remain fiscally sound, and are implementing appropriate campus programming.
- Collaborate with organization advisors to create an effective advising and mentoring environment for student organizations.
- Program for major campus events including Homecoming, Late Night at Reynolds, Spring Fling, the annual Pancake Breakfast and other special events as required.
- Advise key student organizations, including, the Junior Class, Pride Productions (the campus programming board), and the Student Government Association Finance Committee.
- Recruit, hire, and train an orientation staff.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement annual orientation programs including January Orientation, Campus Connection (early orientation programs), and Précis (August orientation).
- Supervise the Student Organization Liaison.
- Supervise the Administrative Assistant for Student Activities & Orientation as well as several work-study students.
- Coordinate with the Director of the Royce Reynolds Student Life Center to create a welcoming and active student center.
- Collaborate with the Campus Minister to create outreach and volunteer opportunities.
- Mentor students and develop student leadership skills.
- Participate in monthly on-call responsibilities.

Residence Hall Directors
Residence Hall Directors support the mission of Residence Life by providing the necessary live-in administration for a residence hall. The RHDs main objective is to make the resources available to meet a resident’s needs of safety, education, and community; the three pillars of Residence Life. The RHD reports to the Director of Residence Life. RHDs reside in an apartment within their assigned residence hall. Reappointment is not guaranteed, but may be granted based on performance. Summer appointments are also available.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Facilitate regular staff meetings with RAs.
- Supervise RAs and conduct performance evaluations with individual RAs.
- Participate in summer RA training and continual professional development throughout the year.
- Participate in RA selection and RHD selection process.
- Maintain visibility in Residence Hall and role model appropriate behavior.
- Maintain professional relationships with students.
- Assist RAs in enforcing Greensboro College and Residence Life policies.
- Monitor and manage conditions of assigned residence hall.
- Coordinate scheduling of lounge usage.
- Inspect residence hall on regular basis to identify maintenance/housekeeping concerns.
- Maintain communication with housekeeping and maintenance.
- Initiate work orders for repairs.
- Prep building for opening.
- Inspect building for closing.
- Take appropriate action in times of emergency.
- Counsel persons living in the area and make referrals when appropriate.
